******COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED. THANKS FOR ENTERING!******
Hello and thanks for stopping by today! I know that there are so many fun blogs to read and check out this week- thanks for taking a minute to stop by mine!
Here is what I am giving away…
(Brown and cream hexagons- not sure what it is and Amy Butler)
We are getting ready to move. As in right now I am surrounded in boxes in my living room and I will be continuing to pack my house until Saturday when the movers show up. When we move, we have decided that it is time for our2 girls to move into a room together (the baby is still in our room) and I want to decorate their room in a cute girly sort of way.
What does this mean to you???
I am looking for ideas. Ideas of things to make. Ideas of things to buy. The ONLY rule is no licensed character stuff and it has to be girly suggestions (not that you can’t decorate a room for a girl with fire trucks and dump trucks, but I don’t want to!
) I would prefer that you add a link in your comment, but you don’t have to have one. Please also include in your comment which item(s) you would like to win.
I will choose 2 winners. The first winner will be the idea that I like best for my girls room (the idea that I am most likely to execute). That person will have his/her choice of items. I will choose the other winner randomly of who is wants the other item.
I will choose winners on Sunday, May 29. I am willing to ship internationally.
Thanks again for stopping by! Happy giveaway day!

I’m thinking it would be nice to have cute drawings of your girls’ fave items drawn on the wall where they can look at when they’re lying down on their beds?
I have two boys, so they would love the Dr. Seuss fabric {although as momma, I love both}.
If I was doing a girl’s room {since I never got the chance!}, I would probably use peach & aqua as my colors. I would add moulding details to bookshelves to make them girly. I’d make garlands to hang over the windows out of fabric scraps tied into bundles {if that makes sense}.
Good luck with your move!
I have bunting in my girl’s room. I think it adds a lovely fun feel to her room. I have it pinned to a wall, up high, and it’s easy to make! Good luck with your move!
I really love what they did with this little girls room. Would be an idea http://www.yummymummyclub.ca/jessies-renocation-reveal
i am in the midst of decorating my girls’ rooms, i have a few things on my blog, bunting, covered canvases and an embroidery. i think my favourite would be covered canvases – just a canvas with fabric staples over it – i think it adds a pop of wow and is sooo easy, thanks for the giveaway. oh and i’d love the fabric.
please count me in

))
thanks for the chance!
I love to win the fabric hexagons and Amy Butler, lovely fabrics
and for the room, you can do something like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/rosaechocolat/3743724071/in/set-72157621774528638 or this http://www.flickr.com/photos/rosaechocolat/4534401872/in/photostream
I hope my stuff can be a inspiration for you
Color scheme yellow and blue, with polka dots and gingham patterns, embellished with eyelet lace.
It’s not overly girly but I think it’d be really neat to have a silhouette, or maybe handprints of each of your girls to hang in their own “side” of that room? I never had to share a room with my sister but I bet if we had to share, it would have been nice to have a little something that said the space was ours.
I like the applique pattern and the Dr. Seuss fabric. My daughter is 21 months and so far I have just put cute girlie coloured bird/tree decals on the walls and made her curtains. Once she is a bit older and I know her tastes I can do more. Good luck with the decorating!
ok, I don’t have a picture – I saw this a long time ago – but if I ever have a little girl, I will get a hoop bigger than a craft hoop and smaller than a hula hoop and hang it from the ceiling above the bed so that it is parallel to the floor. Then tie tuile strips to the hoop and let them hang down to the floor – kind of like a poor man’s canopy bed. well, good luck with the decorations. post pictures
If you go to the mamas and papas catalogue (link provided) and go to page 160-161, there is a gorgeous curtain made from old handkerchiefs, it’s shown in a blue room but would be beautiful in pinks
http://www.mamasandpapas.com/downloads/catalogues/ecatalogue.php
I would love to win the Dr Seuss giveaway
I love this room. If I was decorating a new room, it would inspire me: http://grosgrainfabulous.blogspot.com/2011/05/inspiration-home-2.html
I have two girls too! And knowing little girls, they love princesses and fairy tales. I would decorate with HR FFA2 fabric – little bits go a long way, and paint a repunzel tower on the wall. Fairy tales and princesses don’t have to be disney!
Golly I’ve got a lot of ideas . . . I just pinned this one yesterday though as something to do in my sewing room, but I think it would be so fun in a little girl’s room.
http://pinterest.com/pin/25094895/
Both giveaway items are sweet.
I love the idea of framing a wall of children’s book pages (you could find classic children’s books at a library sale or yard sales or somewhere cheap since you’ll be cutting out and framing the best pages). http://pinterest.com/pin/25506043/
Also, these colors: http://pinterest.com/pin/25089111/
Alphabet letters:
http://pinterest.com/pin/24057950/
This mobile:
http://pinterest.com/pin/22257871/
Books as decoration/easy access to bookshelves for little readers:
http://pinterest.com/pin/19041459/
http://pinterest.com/pin/16948884/ (that one would be so inexpensive with ikea spice racks!)
Okay, I hope some of those ideas are helpful! I don’t even have any kiddos myself yet, but I do love decorating and I do love children!
We recently redid my 2 daughter’s room in an underwater mermaid theme. I don’t have any pics posted to link to, but would be happy to email you a few. We used a Michael Miller mermaid fabric for pillowcases and matching curtains, some ruffle green trim for seaweed, shells from the beach, and styrofoam balls hung from fishing line as bubbles, it’s very fun!
Thanks for the giveaway! I’d be happy with either, but love the applique with Dr. Seuss…I mean it’s Suess!
I’m working on my daughter’s “big kid” room too and came across this picture recently – except the color scheme for her room is reversed. http://pinterest.com/pin/22262920/
I think the Amy Butler fabric would work perfectly in her room, although the applique pattern is cool too. Have fun decorating!
Katrina (blueberryblues5(at)gmail(dot)com
One of my favorite websites is design*sponge. They have a cute kid rooms featured every once and a while. One was forest themed and one was circus. They also have before and after, diy, and they feature artists from all over.
I have two boys. Sorry I don’t have ideas for your room. I either fabric.
I’ve actually been working on my little girl’s room. It has been decided that we are going with strawberries. I had a bit of a dilemma a few weeks ago and got my lovely blog readers to help me choose the fabric for her curtains. Check it out here: http://tawnykw.blogspot.com/2011/05/lanes-curtains.html
A little bit about the curtains as a work in progress here as well: http://tawnykw.blogspot.com/2011/05/work-in-progress-wesnesday-summertime.html
Good luck with your designing!
I think this would be great for two little girls to have. It is a princess fortress that is so pretty I want it.
http://creatingbycami.blogspot.com/2011/05/princess-fortress.html
i love girly decorating. i like to call my own personal style “vintage picnic party.” think pinks and yellows, mix and match vintage floral sheets, vintage linen flag bunting, thrifted board games and toys, handmade fabric dolls, and of course lots of extra vintage sheets for making forts and such. i love these things–maybe your girls will, too.
Well, with three boys I don’t know if I’m the right gal to ask about decorating a girly room. BUT, I LOVE this fabric: http://tinyurl.com/3ejvcy6 and would probably make duvet covers from it (maybe combined with some of the other fabrics from the line). Thanks for the chance!
I like birds and tress mixed with pastilles… you can do any color combo with this, but i like pastels. paint a tree on the wall with magnetic paint behind it, and then you can have bird and other nature magnets for them to “create” with. Not to mention it makes a great “fridge” for their artwork in their own room. good luck!
I’d pick some fabric that the girls (and you) love and stretch it over picture frames or cork boards as art for the wall. If you use cork boards the art can also double as a place to hang things on. If you take the glass out of a frame and place a fitting piece of cork in it’s place covered with fabric it would look nice too. Then you can insert some hooks from the hardware store and put jewelry on it as well.
I love both giveaways, but the Dr. Seuss and applique pattern are my favorite. Thanks for the great giveaway.

If I had a girls room to decorate I’d make it a pretty shade of green. Then you could still add pink or purple or whatever other color accents you like. I’d probalby keep the furniture white (why does that seem girly?) And I’d probably hang some hoops with my favorite fabrics that go with the green.
My Sweet Rag Dolls with quilts are loved by little girls:

I like themes that can grow with kids. So something classic, like just sticking with a color or two and decorating in different variations of that. You could do different shades of pink, have a fun (fake) chandalier, a round canopy over the head of the bed, etc.
I like the appliques and Dr. Suess!
I recently saw these yarn balls and thought they would be nice for a party or who know what:
http://pinterest.com/pin/25592653/
For a little girl’s room I always liked the idea of white with color accents. Something like this: http://homedecorationtrend.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Cool-Ideas-for-pink-girls-bedrooms-5.jpg
Although personally I would do pastel yellow or green because I am not a fan of pink. lol.
One of my favourite new decorating ideas is to use vinyl wall decals. They come in so many designs & colours & are easy to put up for a big impact. I have ordered from ‘leen the graphics queen’ on etsy before & she was great! I got a branch with birds & my kids love to find the birdies all the time hehe.
I would choose the fabric prize if I were lucky enough to win
I shared a room with my sister when I was younger. One of the best things my mom did with our room was to put a curtain down the middle that ran about 1/2 the width of the room. This offered us some privacy and a sense that we each had some of our space. Plus, what a great way to showcase some more fav fabric!
How I would have loved to have a little girl, I think if I did I would have done a room filled with flowers, trees and magical faries… or woodland animals.. But then when I was little I wanted Ballerinas dancing all around my room…
I dont know what your wanting to decorate the girls room in but when my lo gets her own room I am going with butterflies/whimsical type theme. I am going to make her this
http://samstermommy.blogspot.com/2010/07/pottery-barn-butterfly-mobile.html
for her room and even when she gets older I can still use it as a decoration because it doesn’t scream baby mobile. Or in your case make for to go over both girls beds but in different colors!
I have six boys. I haven’t had a chance to think about how I might decorate a little girls room. Sorry! Does that disqualify me? I love the applique pattern and the Dr. Seuss fabric
You should make some totally girly curtains!
My friend has a really cute vinyl wall sticker that’s a growth chart in her little girl’s room — I think it looks great! Something like this, in pink? http://www.etsy.com/listing/61969270/woodland-growth-chart-nursery-vinyl-wall
my idea is to paint a tree and do shelves – like this: http://pinterest.com/pin/26862178/ on the wall! I’m just decorating my daughters room this next month and it’s something I want to do!
A little girl should have a canopy bed. You could customize for two beds, bunks, a large shared bed, whatever!
http://www.countryliving.com/crafts/projects/diy-canopy-bed-0709
Both prizes are awesome, but I think I’d like the applique patterns.
At our old house I painted a wraparound mural in my daughter’s room based on Friendly Fish, by Gale Kaseguma.
http://www.oopsydaisy.com/PE0994.aspx
I saw the cutest tree painted on the wall and the girls could pin her favorite things to the tree branches. http://vintagerevivals.blogspot.com/2011/01/tree-mural-tutorial.html
A garden with ladybugs, flower pots, and butterflies. I love the Dr. Seuss fabric! Thanks for the chance!
Hi, I have a 5 year old granddaughter who is passionate about so many things. she loves painting and creating, she loves animals both safari and farm and she love the ocean…and everything in it. She also loves her dolls, butterflies and flowers. So how do you decorate for such varied tastes? And with two girls in the room you will have even more favorite things. My suggestion is to decorate stations in the room. One area could emphasize the flowers and butterflies and would make a great play area for the dolls. A creative zone will ignite her pasion for painting and what’s more colorful than an ocean. A reading or “quiet” station would be a wonderful place to be surrounded by all their animal friends. Each station could be as large (an entire wall) or as small (3 on one wall painted with co-ordinating paint to mark-off each station. My Zoe would love this and I’m sure your girls would too. Please let us know how the room turns out. We love the pictures.
I forgot to say that I like the applique pattern and Dr. Suess fabirc..thanks.
When I was growing up my favourite thing in my room was a patchwork cushion made by my Gran. It made of a pink floral print and solid cream, with a basic nine patch in the middle and appliqued petals around the edge. I also think that Dresden Plates made to look like flowers are really cute, especially on a wall hanging for a little girl’s room. I love the Amy Butler fabric you’re offering.
I just moved my daughter out of our room and in with her big sister! I agonized over the decision thinking that they would wake each other up all night and I woul get NO sleep, but it has been such a blessing! After the first week, the baby was sleeping through the night and it was the best decision I ever made!!!! I also have a huge bedroom, so where the crib and rocking chair were is now my craft area, YIPEEEEE!
As for a theme – I would totally go with pink and brown polka dots if I could do it over again! They make these awesome decals (saw some at walmart) that you can just stick on the walls, or you could paint some – you could even do this on the bed frames, dressers, closet door… Plus polka dots won’t go out of style and they are good for a wide range of ages!
Lindsey
I was thinking of something like a little hide-out/house bed.
something like this:
http://www.bastagoblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/beds-exciting-fun-for-kids.jpg
I know I would have loved this as a child and I think my daughter would have also!
Thanks for the giveaway!
I really enjoy House of Smith’s little girl’s rooms.

I have two girls. They are 15 and 16 right now. I used rubber stamps and acrylic paint and made flowers all over there room when they were younger. They loved it so much growing up that I still have not had to redo it. The flowers are big. The petal of the stam was all by itself and it is 3 inches long. So the flowers on the walls are about 8 inches across. It looks so cool. I would like the fabric if I win. Thank you!
You are amazing – participating in this giveaway while trying to get ready to move. Lately I’ve seen on a few blogs cute strings of pennants hung up as decorations. They look really cute when done up in pretty fabrics and wouldn’t be too onerous to make. Thanks for a chance to win.
I’m currently doing my little girls (2 yrs old) room in a Parisian theme. Here’s my inspiration and what I’ve made so far.
http://myfabricobsession.blogspot.com/2011/05/little-bit-more-france-quilt-finish-aka.html
I’ve also been inspired by this room…

If you choose me, I would love the fabric! thanks!
Hello,
I love all the owl prints that are out now-so feminine and cute. The lime green and pink palette is so cute for little girls. All the owl decorations in those cute prints and colors for wall decorations.
I love the garden theme rooms for girls. I have seen some really nice ones on the web. sorry I didn’t save the links.
I like the 2nd prize.
Thank you for the great giveaway. It’s lovely.
atchisonsteph at gmail dot com
I just did a quilt called hooterville that has appliqued owls and trees that would be wonderful for a little girl
I would go for a woodland theme, flowers, owls, trees with blossoms…
There’s plenty to paint or sew yourself, but also pretty popular parts that you could just take the girls favorite color each and go crazy on etsy.
And, maybe some princessy tulle bedskirts, or mosquito netting…
RP from BBC {at} gmail {dot} com
I love the fabrics you are giving away.
I love the idea of using embroidery hoops to frame up different girly fabrics and hanging them in a collection on the wall. Or cutting out lots of paper butterflies and sticking them to the wall as if they are flying up and across the room. Both of those can be fun ideas for kids of any age, as girly as you want them to be AND easy to change if you get bored of it!
Hi! I don’t have kids, but I love the blog Young House Love, and thought the floral mobiles they made for their little girl’s room were just too sweet. Here is their tutorial: http://www.younghouselove.com/2010/03/nursery-progress-makin-a-mobile/
Thanks for the chance to win. I’d prefer the hexagon & Amy Butler fabric if I were lucky enough to win. akmajor (at) gmail (dot) com
So I was thinking if I had a girl it would be super cute to paint a big brown tree with sparse leaves and use cute owls and flowers as an all over theme. There are a TON of cute owl fabrics on spoonflower, so that’s what I would do!
I like the first prize since I have a ton of Dr. Seuss for my little boy!
I suggest something that will grow with the kids, so pick a nice, but not obnoxious color, and get some of the awesome vinyl wall stickers that are removable. Super cute choices, and totally removable…so you can change as they do!
i think a girls’ room needs fabric bunting flags with their names on them! i don’t have a particular link as there are so many!
i love the applique pattern and seuss fabric!
Right now, I am in love with rooms for little girls that have very pale blue ways and lots of pink accents! Like this:
http://www.ohdeedoh.com/ohdeedoh/my-room/my-room-avafort-worth-tx-122578
and this:
http://www.ohdeedoh.com/ohdeedoh/my-room/my-room-charlotte-graceatlanta-ga-138004
And this one doesn’t have the pink, but it is still very feminine:

I love the stuff you are giving away! Thanks for the chance to win!
grokgrace (at) hotmail (dot) com
I got the idea from Ottobre magazine – cut out letters from a cardbox that spell your daughter’s name and cover them in cute fabric.
If I win I would love to have applique and Dr. Seuss giveaway. Thanks.
I am in love with pink and aqua colored themed rooms. Just look at these cute ideas and I love those lanterns!
http://www.fitinhouse.com/cute-and-cozy-nursery-decorating-by-designdazzle/
I just love pink and aqua colors for little girl rooms. Look at these ideas! I love those lanterns!
http://www.fitinhouse.com/cute-and-cozy-nursery-decorating-by-designdazzle/
I love fabric covered letters of their names. I’ve seen some adorable versions, but you can get wood letters and use mod podge and cover them in fabric. But, if you want to do less work, the wall stickers work really well to girlify a room
I love the Dr. Suess fabric! You could make a collage out of paint chip in pinks and purples and frame it! That would be so cute!
http://www.thecraftyscientist.com/2011/05/paint-chip-art.html
I don’t know if you’ll actually be able to follow that or not… it’s at the crafty scientist blog!
I have a few room ideas on my blog if you would like to check them out.
http://corner–house.blogspot.com/2010/09/introducing-emmas-room.html
Bryce’s room could always be done in girly colors with flowers on the trees.
http://corner–house.blogspot.com/2011/05/bryces-room-revamp-reveal.html
Definately their names on the wall in padded letters in co-ordinating pink hues.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/36895751/Padded-Letters-Tutorial
Or a gorgeous hanging book sling, this is on my to do list.
http://pennycarnival.typepad.com/penny_carnival/2009/02/tutorial-hanging-book-display.html
Having a 2 year old, I would love the Dr Seuss fabric and applique pattern.
I’d love to win the fabric! For my daughter’s big girl room, I got a quilt custom made, so I looked for accesories that wouldn’t break the bank. I made an initial platter from an old, gross platter that I found at a garage sale for $2, used some spray paint & created a fun piece to hang over here bed. Here is the link to the tutorial I put up: http://paintsewcreate.blogspot.com/2010/06/initial-platter.html
Thanks so much!
I would decorate the room like a tiffany’s box. Lots of Light aqua and white.
One practical and fun project that you could do yourself (that could also potentially “grow” with your girls) is to create individualized padded, fabric headboards. Here is an example:
http://www.raftertales.com/wp-content/uploads/kids-room-girls-bed.jpg
All you need is mdf board, batting, a staple gun, and perhaps some painted trim. You could have your daughters pick their favorite pattern from a palette of fabrics and coordinate their bedding to match. The best part is that the fabric on the headboard is easily changed and could be swapped out for new colors/designs as they get older and their preferences change. Good luck with the move and thanks for the chance to win!
I love the Brown and cream hexagons and Amy Butler fabric. As for a decorating idea, I am decoratiing challanged to say the least, but love rooms that are to different colors, like pink and purple, say 3 walls pink and one purple or you could do pink and purple strips on one wall and have the rest white. I also love a room filled with flowers and butterflies, little girls love flowers and butterflies and it is easy to make big fabric flowers or butterflies and then paint stems or flying trails or you could even use double sided tape and ribbon. Just some thoughts. Thanks for the giveaway!
How exciting! A fresh blank canvas for your lovely girls room. I really like bunting, but I think it may be over done, I also love hanging tissue pom poms and think they could look so cute in bright girly colours! There’s a good tutorial here. Also, what about creating a little reading nook for them as a shared space? Inspiration here. And I also really like the idea of bed canopys. It offers them a little bit of privacy and is so cool! Wouldn’t they love a princess canopy like this one, but maybe in pink? Hope you like my ideas
Ohhh I would love to do a girls room – but with 2 boys it’s not gonna happen.
I love the aqua and pink colours, purple and green or red and pink also look really cool – lovely white firniture for a nice crisp look. I love the four poster bed in this link, but 2 of those would be quite alot…http://oninteriordesign.blogspot.com/2009/08/10-cool-ideas-for-pink-girls-bedrooms.htm
I love these little butterfly mobiles that everyone is doing
http://projectnursery.com/2010/01/butterfly-mobile/
I would probably keep my colours neutralish and decorate with vinyl stickers or fabric/scrapbook paper covered wood letters or pictures. That way they are easy to change if their tastes change
I love the simplicity and the gorgeous linen in this room
http://tinytreasuresbydesign.wordpress.com/girl-bedrooms/
Have fun – I wish i was doing it
I love forals that can grow with the children. I would love to have the Amy Butler fabric.
i would add lots of flower wall decals
I don’t have any children of my own, but I would have thought you’d be best to avoid a “theme” as they’re likely to get bored. I think you’d be better off with a colour scheme, then you can change things as they get older. I’ve seen some wonderful fabric storage boxes at Pink Penguin which would be great for their toys.
I am currently in love fairytale type themes for a little girls room. I like the Tinkerbell colors of lilac and green and am planning on doing stripes above a chair rail in by baby’s room. I also love curvy or fantasy like furniture. I love these:
http://www.homfurniture.com/Online/Home/Store/Product_695385_Disney-Princess-Twin-Poster-Bedroom-Suite#tabs
it’s too bad they are out of my budget.
Thanks for the giveaway! I love the Dr. Suess fabric
Thanks for the generous giveaway!
decorated with classic princess bed frame.. And of course must painted with pink
well, i always dreamed to have a princess room
Oh, I’d love the applique pattern & Dr. Seuss! LOVE!
For a girl’s room? I’d suggest a Parisian theme – pink and grey with the Eiffel tower and other things with French flair and flavor.
How about floaty fabric hung from the ceiling and then two white beds with beautiful quilt covers in patterns that suit your children’s personalities. Then they need their own space in the room so bookshelves back to back to divide the room in half or near each child’s bed. Lots of space in the middle of the floor for playing and finally an art board on one wall. Create a dado rail and paint under it in blackboard paint and above this have wires or ways to hang artworks (both created and purchased)
Ensure the children have space for themselves and plenty of ways to store toys etc.
P.S. Would love the applique prize – thanks
mhairia77(at)gmail(dot)com
If I was to decorate a little girls room I would always install what I had for myself – a pink, see-through canopy over the bed! It had a real fairy tale feel to it and I felt very safe and special under it. And if you have two girls sharing a room then it also creates a separate/personal space for each of them.
Thanks for the great giveaway. x
carmenvm@web.de
I have 2 girls, so I’m no stranger to decorating a girl’s room. Here’s my favorite things:
chalkboard wall – Can either paint a small section of wall with chalkboard paint, or buy a chalkboard wall decal. The decal come in all sorts of fun shapes too.
hanging fabric baskets – To hold chalk and other small goodies. If using for chalk, I’d line with vinyl so you can just wipe them clean instead of having to throw in the wash. Here’s a link to my favorite pattern:
http://www.allfreesewing.com/Miscellaneous-Projects/Hanging-Fabric-Baskets-or-Pockets#
vinyl wall decals – There are tons of great ones on Etsy. You’re sure to find some that everyone will love.
fun curtains
fabric covered lampshade – There’s a nice tutorial on Moda Bakeshop for one, but there are lots of good tutorials out there. Just pick a look you like, and run with it.
fabric silhouettes of your girls – Frame in embroidery hoops.
Cute quilts of course!
Here’s a couple of my favorite girl’s rooms:

If you search girl’s room on Pinterest, there’s tons of great inspiration. If you need an invite, email me and I’d be happy to send you an invite. bodylovesoaps(@)gmail(.)com
If I win, I’d love the fabrics, but would be happy with either as I have both girls and a boy. Thank you for the giveaway! Good luck with your move!
I have an idea how I would decorate my girls room, that is, if I had a girl (only boy here). I haven’t seen it any where because I haven’t been looking. I would decorate the room with nature, in a girly way, greens, pinks, yellows, violets and lots, lots of fun!
Great giveaway, love the fabrics!
Ana
Well, I think the Pottery Barn Kids chandelier shown in this post would be a beautiful and modern chic item to put in a girls’ room. The post even features instructions for a much cheaper knock-off. Even better! http://livingwithlindsay.com/2010/05/pottery-barn-knock-off-tutorial-ribbon-and-bird-chandelier.html
I love a mermaids/beach theme for a girl’s room. A couple of seashells, some pillows in a soft peach and aqua and I think you’re pretty much set!
I am not sure how old the older of the two of your children are, but have you thought of a loft bed? if the 2nd child is still in a crib you could put it under the loft and even add a curtain for nap time. When the 2nd child is older you could either put a 2nd bed under or make them a loft of their own and each child would have their own area under the loft. Lofts do not have to be high, there are many that are adjustable or you can make it so yourself. Another idea is to have bean bag chairs or different foam cushions or blocks that you can stacked into the corner, they are great for creative play as well. They fabrics can be different and you can add more as time and space allow.
I forgot to tell you that I like the fabric in the first picture!
The best thing I put in my DD’s room is HER special things shelf. It’s a 3-shelf unit that is screwed to the wall over her bed. She gets to put her treasures on it. Sometimes it’s Happy Meal toys, sometimes it’s sand art, or the ukelele that she got on our trip to Mexico. All things that drive me crazy. But the rule is it if doesn’t fit on the shelf it has to be put away, not stuck on the bedside table or on top of the dresser.
Here are some ideas from my pintrest for pretty girly rooms that I love! I’d like to win the applique pattern and Dr Seuss fabric.
I love this shared room. If I had 2 girls that had to share a space I would like something like this http://pinterest.com/pin/10294725/
Also want to do a painted cross stitch on my daughter’s wall http://pinterest.com/pin/7649044/
I think any kid would love this cozy little nook. And it looks easy enough to do http://pinterest.com/pin/20608575/
Another great shared space

Have you seen the cloud bookshelf? So sweet! Thanks for the generous giveaway. I would love to be the lucky winner!

I love zebra print and pink for a little girl! So fun!
How about a nature theme with trees and animals? Or maybe a forest with forest creatures and fairies and gnomes and such?)
I painted one wall of my little girl’s room with grass and a blue sky with puffy clouds. I bought some of those vinyl stickers mentioned above. Right now they are princesses which she loves moving around. I know you said no licensed characters and there are plenty of stickers to choose from that aren’t licensed!
I like the 2nd choice.
Hullo – what an interesting challenge. ^_- Had fun thinking about this, especially as I’ve three boys and no girls – refreshing to think outside my particular box.
What I was thinking was a world theme. Fabrics and painted themes from all over the world. Sari fabric could be really lovely and drapey, and relatively inexpensive. I couldn’t find an image I really liked but if you’ll scroll down here: http://decor.kaboose.com/10-great-kids-rooms.html I like the idea there. I also love the idea of maybe gypsy painting, or maybe Pennsylvania Dutch motifs – I think in the right ecclectic mix of styles and themes from around the world you could have a lovely, girly room that could grow with your girls as they grow older.
When I updated my daughter’s room, I painted wooden letters for her name. I’m actually needing to start this for my younger daughter now too.

I like the applique patterns and Dr. Seuss fabric.
I see Little Helper in a whimsical garden room with flowers of bright pink, orange, and yellow and lots of splashes of green. Maybe a tree mural with a cute little birdhouse for company?
crystalarcand (at) gmail (dot) com
I think canopies for the beds would be cute. nothing in pink!, but we could go with some lacy or pale yellows or some pastels
I made my giveaway from the Amy Butler you are giving away!
Here’s my baby’s girly room for inspiration:
http://quaintandquirky.blogspot.com/2010/09/nursery-tour.html
One of my favorite decorating ideas for little girls rooms are these cute canvases from Sew Like My Mom: http://sewlikemymom.com/nursery-canvas-tutorial/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=nursery-canvas-tutorial
I think the best part of decorating a little girl’s room is the bright colors you get to use! Here’s a great slide show of ideas from BH&G: http://www.bhg.com/rooms/kids-rooms/girls/bedrooms-just-for-girls/
(My favorites are: 1, 5, 8, 12, and 16)
Good luck on your decorating and thanks for the giveaway!!
I had family and friends decorate these mirrors from Ikea and I hung them in a row in my daughter’s room. You could do a series of solids, or wrap them in fabric, or let your older daughter draw on them- The wide border gives lots of options! And the mirror gives a little sparkle to the room.
(The link only shows painted ones, but at the store they have unfinished wood)

Oh I am so into the brown/purple/aqua/lime right now and I would make it a owl room… Owl’s are very popular right now and a to of owl patterns can be found on etsy! thanks for the chance to win!
I am always a fan of color schemes with a little fun thrown in. Like yellow and green with small flowers or butterflies. Red, white and black with lady bugs or brown and pink with owls, green and pink with trees and flowers…so on and so on!!
I’m super jealous that you have a girl and get to have a girly room. i love the idea of aqua, chocolate, or lime as a paint color and then hot pink accents everywhere
I always think a whimsical forest theme is a good one, it can change with the years. When she’s young it can be the backdrop for princess games and unicorns, and as she gets older it can be the setting for other games
I love decorating with flower shapes and shades. there are SO many different types of flowers, and they aren’t all super girly fluffy!
One thing I love to do with the kids when we move (and we move a lot in the Navy) is to decorate their rooms… after years of this, I’ve learned to let them help and almost every time they choose a creative space: drawing area, colorful, etc. I always leave a wall for hanging their drawings, paintings, etc and often we trace hands, feet and sometimes entire bodies and tack them to the wall. … So that would be my suggestion, regardless of theme (or not)… make sure they have a space for their own creative energies:-)
Parisian flowers
thanks for the chance!
How about a farmer’s market theme?? Or a shabby and sweet light pink, white, taupe, like teddy bears and ruffly pink nightgowns and drapy bed canopies and curtains
Thanks!
I think a beautiful theme for a girls’ room would be trees & birds. There are so many pretty bird fabrics out there and I’ve seen some really neat tree sticky-appliques that you can adhere to the wall. You could incorporate hanging sewn birds for visual interest, as well as stick-on birds for the tree(s). You could coordinate with sewn birdie shades and bedding (quilts?). Incorporating different types of birds over the years (owls, songbirds, blue jays, etc.) might also help the room mature with the girls and stimulate interest in what’s really outside the windows!
I’d love to win the pattern and Dr. Seuss fabric!
My little girl’s room is set up in white, brown, teal, and orange. it’s kind of a safari theme but we don’t stick to animals or anything specific. we didn’t have much of a budget (note: no budget at all) to make a pretty nursery, so i hand-painted her dresser and picked up little items that match – an orange chair, a blankie that i hand-made for her in those colors. It’s cute, and she won’t grow out of the colors for awhile.
http://www.u-createcrafts.com/2010/02/abc-wall-art.html this could be easily adapted to whatever colors you like.
I also like this idea http://www.polkadotchair.com/2010/05/repost-guest-spot-little-girls-dress-up.html. I think you definitely have to go for function in little kid’s spaces.
I’m a fan of a plain colored wall and leaving space for stuff the kid’s make or like. My mom always had our rooms decorated like she liked and I always admired the rooms of friends who got to do more of their own thing! Hope you come up with something you all can love!
My granddaughter has her name in wooden letters painted in a girly design on her wall. She also wears a lot of hair bows and has a cute wooden “tree” hanging on the wall to display them on. I like the applique patterns and Dr. Seuss fabric best!
I would go with a fun color scheme and then small stuff you could change out as the tire of it. Such as quilt hangings with their names, paint something on canvas. For instance my son’s room is brown, navy and spring green. When he was born he had safari sheets on his crib, an elephant painting, etc. Now he has all bugs and Eric Carle stuff but since the colors are the same it cost very little to change out a few accessories.
Little girl rooms often have bed canopies, right? http://www.polkadotchair.com/2009/05/inexpensive-bed-canopy.html
I like both prizes. Thanks for the giveaway!
I love this simple modern girls room, white and pink, ever so sophisticated and not that hard to pull off either:
http://www.ohdeedoh.com/ohdeedoh/nursery-tours/avas-bohemian-bedroom-kids-room-tour-147107
By sticking with a white background it really makes the color pieces you pick stand out!
It’s hard to come up with something everyone likes but I suggest that you paint the walls a light gray with a bunch of pink/purple/aqua accents through the rugs, photos, etc.

My girls love pretty insects so when we saw this project in a craft magazine, I had to try it out for them!
http://www.flickr.com/photos/twocheekymonkeys/3964383839/in/set-72157622353373681
It was pretty simple to draw out a butterfly image and then paint it “in silhouette”.
Thanks for the chance!

Our girls have a sheer, hot pink, embroidered curtain over white blinds. When the sun is up, the room is cast in a pink glow. Combining that with a Flutterby quilt and throw pillow to match would be a dream.
http://crazyoldladiesquilts.blogspot.com/2009/04/flutterby.html
I wish I had a little girl:(
I would do a french country or cottage-y room.
You could use quilts, vintage sheets oh how cute!

Okay, I could be here all day picking things out!
A lot of this stuff you could probably make or find and refinish to your liking!
Good luck and have fun!!
Thank you for the opportunity;}
As I’ve got little boys, I’m not sure what’s popular with girls these days! I do love the look of bright flower decals on the walls and spring colours around the room. A nice pale blue wall would make a lovely calming backdrop to the bright wall art!
I’d love the Applique pattern and Dr. Seuss pack!
http://www.flickr.com/photos/smilerynker/5715123729/in/faves-biggoofydog/
I saw this room on another blog. Gorgeous.
Thanks for the opportunity to win.
Well, if I were having a girl, or had a girl, or was doing a girls room(I have a 6 year old boy…) I would probably want to make it something I knew would be easy to grow with. Like, black and white as a main theme, with hot pink, yellow, lime green, aqua, purple, orange, etc…as the accent colors. Pick up the colors with homemade buntings of their names hung up on the walls in cool colors. fun pillows. etc.
I love the tissue paper flowers you see by martha stewart. imagine them in pink, yellow, aqua & green hanging in the corner of the room! so pretty.
I think this growth chart would be a beautiful addition to their room. http://www.thestudentteacher.com/journal/2011/5/16/a-sewing-tutorial-emilys-embroidered-growth-chart.html
I pick the Dr. Suess fabric.
anna [at] 64colorbox [dot] com
I was pregnant when we moved into our house. After my baby girl was born, I made over the bigger room into the girls’ room. I love how it turned out! I built the bunkbeds, sewed the quilts (my first attempt!), and did lots more. You can check it all out here: http://eulessnotuseless.blogspot.com/2010/10/welcome-to-our-peaceful-place.html
Hang small letter-shaped pillows that spell their names. Ballet bar. Girl-themed bean bags next to the window for reading. Use magnetic paint under one section of the regular paint, and let them hang their artwork directly on the wall with magnets. (Magnetic paint at Home Depot, Lowe’s, whatever, along with chalkboard and whiteboard paints. Also very cool ideas for a room.) Thanks for the giveaway!
First – How excellent to put the girls together; they’ll never get lonesome or need to sneak into Mom’s bed. Our grands just started sharing a room with twin beds and they tell me they don’t get lonesome having the other one there.
Decorating – Amy Bradley “Sugar and Spice” paperdoll quilts for the beds. Here’s a picture. https://picasaweb.google.com/amybradleydesigns/SugarSpice#5521622963908011458
Don’t think she has the pattern anymore but I see a set of all nine patterns recently sold on eBay.
You could use the cute motifs on other things, too.
We turned our daughter’s room into a garden. We painted a huge floor to ceiling oak tree in one corner of the room (we used a leaf stamp to paint the leaves in 2 different colours), then painted a picket fence along 2 walls, a few flowers along the fence line. I *loved* that room. Sadly, she is now a preteen and we had to paint over her pretty garden.
Have fun no matter what you end up doing! I have 3 daughters and I have greatly enjoyed the room decorating that goes along with it!
How about a tea party themed room?
Oh, who can resist a bit of Dr. Seuss!
Well, I never had a girly room growing up and always had to share, so I would say some defined “me” space for each would be smart, especially as they get older. My little cousins really loved it when their mom made “princess beds” with chiffon and ribbon as canopies. Also, some of that chalkboard paint would be very fun.
If I wasn’t renting and could decorate as I wished, I would paint the walls light grey, make pretty simple sheer white curtains, and homemade quilts from colorful vintage sheets for the beds. A couple bookshelves filled with books, some little poufs to sit on, and canopies over the beds – made from tulle or other sheer fabric and large hoops.
Afraid I don’t have any girls, but I’m a sucker for chocolate brown and pink.
you could either go for a rustic look with coordinating throw pillows and wall hangings or do something very contemporary with geometric designs on the walls.
I’d love the Dr. Suess fabric!
I would choose the pattern and Dr Seuss fabric ~ As for your girl’s room, I think a butterfly theme would be nice, Using some soft purples and greens and pinks – maybe have a reading corner with a mural on the wall of a spring flower garden with different butterflies flying around, make some butterfly shaped throw pillows, have some paper lanterns, use soft and flowy fabrics for bedding and window treatments. Hang some netting over their beds and have some butterflies sitting on there as well.
I only have boys, so my mind always goes back to “boy stuff” for decorating rooms. But the fabric you’re giving away is so fun!
I have never really been a girly girl, so I wouldn’t know where to start with a “girls room”. I would work with the colors that your girls like (or at least the older one for now). Thanks for the giveaway!
I don’t know a specific “theme”, but I will recommend that you check out ana-white.com. She has plans to build all kinds of cute furniture including knock-off twin beds from pottery barn, a dollhouse bookshelf, cute picnic tables, and a doll bed that is adorable. You are bound to find great ideas for furniture there!
I’m so glad you asked this! I have a 5 month old and her room isn’t done yet *blush* I always wanted a girl, but never thought it would happen…so I didn’t do my research! The original room we did for her is going to be the play room and she will be moving upstairs.
There are so many cool color combinations these days….I’m torn!
)
The romantic in me wants to do lots of sheer white and light pink
The artist in me wants to do an enchanted forrest (my gut says this is the way to go!)
The rebellious kid in me wants to do ANYTHING but pink! Something fun and funky and a little edgy.
I’m curious to see what direction you go…. and I’ll be reading everyones comments for my own personal use
Hmmm…Well If I were decorating for little girls, I would probably have some solid color that is girly, but neutral on the wall..Then I would put a boarder of flowers..in one corner I would want one of those Netting things that hangs from the ceiling..(my daughter had a princess one and loved it..even when she outgrew princesses because it was her own little space) I always wanted to paint her walls a light yellow with and orange-ish and yellow and green boarder. oh and for the prize..you pick for me..I could see the DR Suess thing and searched and searched for one for a present a couple years ago….but I can’t see the whole pics..my computer won’t let them load.
Lots and lots of pillows of all varieties. You can pile them on your bed, you can make castles out of them, you can make nests on the floor, you can hug them…. they’re all good.
No specific ideas, but make sure there are lots of soft cuddly things!
I like brown and pink, and lots of circles. Maybe circles painted on the wall, and a quilt made with circles in different girly colors appliqued on. My favorites would be bright pink, lime, and aqua with chocolate brown.
I like the vinyl cut outs, it isn’t permanent so as they grow older it can be changed and it looks great. I also like the wood letters of their names cutout and hung by their
http://www.indiespotting.com/the-indie-tot/vinyl-wall-decals/
I like the #1 picture of the tree best but really you can do anything with vinyl
http://www.unique-baby-gear-ideas.com/wall-letters.html
Cupcakes and Connfections!! Crochet AMIGURUMI tea sets and such! Check out the PRETTY colors at rosehipblog. Fresh and Dreammy!!
I think a pretty little chandelier is cute in a girls room and I love framed cuts of pretty fabrics.
Thanks for the chance to win!
okiedokiemama at yahoo dot com
My suggestion is butterflies!!
I like to give my children a bulletin board…or pin board. For my son, we just bought a peg board from Walmart…so he can put anything he wants to up on his wall. With my daughter I made a fabric covered board to match her curtains. It’s just fabric and ribbons.
Thanks for a lovely giveaway!
I really love all the owl decorations right now for little girls. But I also love Paris as a theme. With Eiffel Tower images and french writing and vintage pictures
A girly girls’ room! Precious! How about one white wall with pink/purple dots…various sizes…one wall a mural of their favorite location (beach/a park…) and beautiful bedding (quilts that are heavily quilted and vibrant)! Hope that sparks some ideas for you!!! KERIHAG at YAHOO dot COM
We made these bookcases for our little girl’s room and we LOVE them. http://www.ana-white.com/2010/01/creative-guest-knock-off-wood-bookcases.html They are perfect for books, puzzles, etc. And, I LOVE that fabric bins fit perfectly. We only got four of them (for the bottom of one shelf), but they are wonderful for blocks, dress up clothes, etc. Eventually, I’d like to add some kind of clothespin rail like she shows here to pin pictures on the wall. If I won, I’d pick the applique pattern and Dr. Suess material. Thanks for the chance to win!
I think these are totally cute for a little girl’s room: http://www.whatisblik.com/shop/explore/sheepy-clouds and really easy to build a whole theme around!
I would love the applique pattern so I can make some cute stuff for my little one on-the-way.
I’m in love with these:
http://www.amazon.com/Decorative-Hanging-Butterflies-Glitter-Decorations/dp/B000MNG8YW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1306364126&sr=8-2
I’d pick #1 but love both.
I love varying shades of purples for girl’s rooms. It’s less cliche than pinks and you can do all different things with it. I dont have any kids, but I remember when I was little I had these purple unicorn sheets and other decorations and my dad painted my dresser purple and white to match. I still have the dresser 25 yrs later!
Also, canopy beds… I’ve always wanted one!
I think an under the sea theme would be fun! You could have mermaids and sea horses and cool climbing kelp! The best part is you can include glitter and shimmer!! Plus it can grow with them, which I am generally a fan of
http://www.potterybarnkids.com/room/rom/romgir/romgircot/
The above is an adorable bed I wish I had the room to do for my daughter but her room is so tiny.
How exciting that you get to redo a room. My first opinion is a tea party theme. However, I’m not a pink lover, so I would also like to see a girl’s room in a white, beachy theme — with a picket fence (either the real thing or painted) along the bottom of the walls. You can add color with accessories like sand pails to hold toys, shells, beach towels/terry cloth for windows, etc.
I’d love the applique set. Thanks for the chance!
Michelle
ms.michelle22(at)gmail(dot)com
I have three boys, so I’m afraid I’m not so good at decorating for girls. I would like a zig zag pattern stripe around the room on the walls though in maybe pinks, yellows and greens. Cute little owls would look great too! Thanks for the giveaway!
I really love the Gypsy Bandanna from Pillow and Maxfield! I would chooses pink and green, but the jewel fabrics are really pretty too. I would frame artwork that they had made on the walls or pictures of butterflies in the same color. I think a fun mobile with simple shapes and colors is fun above the changing table. Thanks for the giveaway!
I really really like this!
http://www.amazon.com/Little-Miss-LIberty-Carousel-Rocking/dp/B00165XLN6
but it’s too expensive and my husband would say no! We are due in January so we will be going through the same problem.
I think little girls should be treated like princess’s… but not the disney kind… I think the pony having fluffy dress wearing kind is the best! So If I had my way we would have a pink room, with girly dresses painted on the wall or like make it one huge merry go round ride! with paintings you can do anything! Not sure if you would -want- to do all of that but I am sure there are some pretty things out there. OH ETSY probably has some fun stuff. (http://www.etsy.com/listing/62623300/kids-vinyl-wall-sticker-decal-princess?ref=sr_list_5&ga_search_submit=&ga_search_query=princess+wall+decals&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_facet=handmade) like that one! sorry the link is so long.
Good luck with the move!
An Enchanted Forest! Whimsical Trees, Birds, Butterflies and LOTSA Flowers
I would definitely do a butterfly/nature theme. So pretty… and it could be very educational too!
Love the Dr. Seuss fabric!
I think you can’t go wrong with looking to nature. Find a nature-themed fabric that you love and go from there. I did this with my own kids’ bedroom using Moda Wonderland. I love it!
make a loose fist and dip the side of your fist (baby finger side) in paint (I like yellow and white or pink and green) vary these in pathways on the wall using alternate hands… add little dots above each with your pinkies… 5 each… do you know what it makes? Little wandering footprints
I would love the Dr. Seuss, but both are wonderful!
Sarah Jane of Sarah Jane studios has some adorable prints that I think would be wonderful in a girls room.
This one’s my favorite.
http://www.etsy.com/listing/46774008/read-with-me-greenblond-hair
I would choose your favorite fabrics to make the curtains, pillows etc. and also decorate a letter initial for each girl to hand over their bed or over their special spot in the room.
I like the applique pattern the best.
Gosh, I don’t have girls, so I’m not sure. Right now I’m working on my little boys room and doing a woodland animal theme. I’ve painted an owl in a tree on one side with a glowing moon over it. I want a tree and birds flying on the other side. A toadstool. All in brown. You could do pink walls & brown accents. Look at these beautiful wall decals! I LOVE them! http://www.etsy.com/listing/62754556/retro-forest-critters-reusable-fabric?ref=sr_list_31&ga_search_submit=&ga_search_query=owl+wall+decal&ga_noautofacet=1&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_facet=handmade%2Fchildren
They have lots of beautiful ideas and decals.
I would Love to learn how to do applique! So the 2nd for me!Thanks!
Becca
I love finding an inspiration piece to build the room around and recently found this artist:
http://www.lovemae.com.au/images/collection/Mae_Catalogue.pdf
I ordered the tea cups for our nursery, but I think the paper dolls or birds would be an adorable theme for your girls.
